Year 2000 Seattle Yee Fung Toy Association Picnic

Submitted by Fred Yee

Over one hundred and fifty people attended the Year 2000 Seattle Fung Toy Association annual picnic at Woodland Park on July 16. It was a perfect day for a picnic, with brilliant sunshine and temperature in the low 80s. Adding to the festivities, about fifty Vancouver Yees joined us at the picnic, among them many Yee children ready to perform the traditional lion dance and martial arts demonstration. Thanks to James Yee and Jim Yee of the Vancouver Yee Fung Toy Society for bringing the extra joy to our picnic.

The Seattle Yees donated numerous gifts as door prizes. The drawing kept Uncle Suey, Uncle Jim and Ronald Yee busy for almost an hour.

Representing the Seattle Yee Fung Toy Association Scholarship Committee, Fred Yee, current President of the Association, awarded 19 scholarships to very well deserving students.

After the picnic, the Vancouver Yees took a bus tour to legendary movie star Bruce Lee's grave site, the Seattle Asian Art Museum and the Experimental Music Project Museum before heading to Hong's Garden in Renton for a delicious dinner, hosted by the Seattle Yees.
